About AnatomyProf

AnatomyProf is a free learning resource for histology and anatomy. It is aimed at students of medicine, dentistry, molecular medicine and related subjects preparing for histology and anatomy exams.

The concept

Histology is learned with the eyes: look at slides, name the structures yourself, then check. Every topic is therefore built as a learning step – slide images from overview to high magnification, toggleable labels, identification criteria, concise explanations and a quiz with three modes. Topics are bundled into learning paths that lead from epithelial to nervous tissue.

Images and sources

  • Micrographs: our own photographs of histology slides, colour-corrected, resized and stripped of metadata for the web.
  • Labels and texts: written by us.
  • Gross-anatomy illustrations: Henry Gray, Anatomy of the Human Body (20th edition, 1918) – public domain; coloured highlighting by AnatomyProf.
